Oxford House and Grace House partner to open an Oxford House in Drumheller

Dear Friends,This past October Oxford House declared its intention to expand its services to new communities. Four months later, I am glad to announce, Oxford House in partnership with Grace House Treatment Centre has opened its newest home in Drumheller, Alberta.Grace House says, “We have an urgent need for an Oxford House in Drumheller, and will have it filled with five men in long-term recovery in no time.”On March 1st, we took possession of the home, and within hours, we were readying this space to receive residents.  Three men will call Oxford House home in the first month, and we expect to have full occupancy in the second month, after we finish a few renovations in the basement.  The program will be true to Oxford House values and will strongly rely on each resident to take on responsibility in the operations of the home.  Grace House and Oxford House will share in daily management, resident intake and overall maintenance of the facility.  Oxford House’s unique operating system makes it possible for our homes to be placed in many communities throughout the province, while maintaining the high standard program that we are known for.We are looking forward to building a collaborative relationship with the community of Drumheller in providing services that will support, and give men in recovery from addictions, the best possible opportunity for life-long sobriety. This is the first step in our overall goal to establish Oxford Houses throughout Alberta.  The partnership between Oxford House and Grace House in Drumheller will be very helpful as we seek to establish Oxford House homes into other communities.Earlier in January, I also had the privilege of meeting with community leaders and service providers in Rocky Mountain House, and they have also expressed a strong desire to build the Oxford House program into their community. We are super excited and so glad to share this positive news with you. With gratitude, sig    Patrick Nixon, Executive Director
